This public panel discussion will bring together experts for a cross-country comparison of the impact of the platform economy on women’s labour force participation and how “platformisation” of work affects women’s earning opportunities and empowerment.


  1. What role will the platform economy play in improving women’s participation in the workforce?
  2. Does platform work provide opportunities for women’s empowerment? What does empowerment mean and how can it be measured?
  3. What forms of platform work give women a more equitable playing field?
  4. How can policies effectively address structural and systemic barriers that hinder women from leveraging emerging opportunities in the platform economy?
