Platforms are sites that use a digital interface to provide a product or service, or connect buyers and sellers. The emergence of platform work is instigating significant changes in the labor market and giving rise to new forms of employment of varying qualities and degrees of worker protections. As the penetration of platforms grows, more research is examining different aspects of the proliferation of platform work. This theme explores the fast-changing dynamic between the emergence of work platforms and the quantity and quality of work.
