As the nature of work changes and the number of individuals who derive an income from platform work increases, it is apparent that existing regulations are no longer fit for purpose. The challenge now is to stimulate and inform the discussion about labour conditions on platforms at the policy level, at the national, regional and global levels. This initiative by the Centre for Financial Regulation and Inclusion (CENFRI) and the JustJobs Network (JJN), with support from GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH), identifies material regulations facing workers on digital platforms in emerging and developing countries in Africa (Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria) and Asia (India, Myanmar, Philippines, and Thailand) as well as options available to national policymakers to address these challenges.
