Data Workers in India and the Global Data Value Chains Supporting AI Systems

What are the working and living conditions and attitudes of data workers who are doing human-computer hybrid value-added data processing tasks needed for building datasets to train AI systems? Kai-Hsin Hung, Ph.D student at the HEC Montréal, teamed up with IT for Change, a research organization based out of Bangalore, India, to shed light on the situation and challenges of Indian AI data workers. In this video he presents his findings at the 10th International Labour and Employment Relations Association (ILERA) Regional Congress for the Americas.
