Fairwork India Ratings 2021: Labour Standards in the Platform Economy

This report brings together the Fairwork project’s third annual study of work conditions of platform workers on digital platforms in India. The past year has been marked by the unprecedented social and economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Amidst a pandemic-ravaged economy, when India’s real gross domestic product shrank by 8.0 percent in 2020–2021, “the increasing role of the platform economy was evident.” But the impact has varied by sector.
