Artificial Intelligence is rewriting the rules of work — but for the Global South, the stakes are even higher. Unlike advanced economies with formal labour markets and stronger safety nets, developing countries grapple with informality, limited social protection, and uneven access to skills. The question is not just whether AI will disrupt jobs, but who will be left behind, who will benefit, and who will lead as this transformation unfolds.
This panel explores how AI technologies are reshaping work across diverse economic contexts in the Global South – from Africa to Asia to Latin America. The discussion will tackle urgent questions:
🔹 What kinds of jobs are most at risk — and which new ones could emerge?
🔹 How can governments and institutions govern AI responsibly in fragile labour markets?
🔹 What lessons can be drawn across countries to ensure AI creates opportunity rather than deepens inequality?
